I spent the afternoon sitting down and trying to figure out whom to vote for. I've seen various email forwards (all false), advertisements (all slanted), and various claims by friends and family of varying credibility. I listened to the final presidential and the vice presidential debate on You Tube. Here are my musings as a result*:
1)I will NOT vote for McCain. Public speaking is not one of his strengths, and I feel uncomfortable with a leader that lacks that quality. I began to feel that even I could debate against him with some proficiency. His plans sounded unconvincing and many of Obama's attacks on him went largely unrefutted. Each of the accusations against Obama had logical, sensible explanations.
2)I'm tired of hearing about Joe the plumber. Let him go back to plumbing, for pete's sake! I wouldn't be surprised if Joe actually voted for Obama because he didn't want to be the poster child for the McCain campaign.
3)I haven't decided whether or not to vote for Obama (I think my mother might have an aneurysm, disown me, write me out of the will, or give away my Christmas presents), but at least he has an articulate plan with what to do with taxes, the economy, healthcare, education, etc. It sounds like many of McCain's plans lack teeth.
4)I don't agree on Obama's stance on abortion, but I don't know whether or not that makes much of a difference. I don't think Roe v. Wade will get reversed regardless of who gets voted in as president.
5)I wish there were one candidate that had all the ideas I agreed with. Too bad Mitt Romney didn't win the nomination. I think he would have fared better against Obama than McCain is.
6)I think that Obama will win the election.
7)I wish the constitution party candidate, Chuck Baldwin, were not so radical so I might have another option.
8)Part of me wishes I could have Obama as president and Sarah Palin as vice president. I think that might be a good balance.
*Note: I am not a political expert, I have not watched all the debates, and I don't know everything about the campaigns. These are just my impressions from what I saw.

Obama's middle name is Hussein you know. :) By the way, the word verification looks like another name for that time of the month. I'm trying not to laugh my head of right now.
I agree...Mit Romney should have been on the ticket! This election is so crazy...and it's actually kind of driving me up the wall too! I have watched all the debates (which I have NEVER done in my life!) and though I am torn on most things, I will say that Obama's health care plan SCARES THE PANTS OFF OF ME! Living in European countries, I have seen Socialized Medicine and it's scary! I know there are lots of people that would disagree with me, but seeing it first hand...it can really get out of hand and be taken advantage of. I'm no expert either, so I totally side with you on not knowing everything, but I just feel that Obama is going to put so much power in the hands of Government that the people a) wont have to depend on themselves and b) that the people will become lazy because they'll get what ever. I don't even know if that makes sense, but...I'm with you...this is a really tough debate! I have gone back and forth so many times that I don't know which way is left and right any more. I don't like McCain for a lot of reasons, but for the security of this country I don't think Obama has what it takes. Knowing that Mit Romney will be working with John McCain is a BIG reason I am voting for McCain...this economy needs Romney right now! Anyway...I just can't wait for 2012 when Romney runs again ;)...anyway, I'm glad there is someone else out there who feels similar to me on this whole election! Anyway...miss and love you!
This is why I hate politics, it turns everyone into crazy people. Have you seen dawn of the dead? It's like that, everyone just turns crazy. (although the old version is just plain funny)
I can't wait for this election to be over. maybe in 4 years from now, I will be relaxing in some foreign country or on a cruise ship so I won't have to deal with this stuff again.
Love you! check your e-mail I need your feedback!
I don't know Jamie PC, but I agree with her with Obama putting too much power in the hands of the govt. I don't like it and I don't like his health care plan. I don't like McCain either, but at this point, I feel like I'm voting for the lesser of two evils. McCain has Sarah Palin and I really like her, despite the media. I feel like the McCain/Palin ticket has the ability to stick with their plans while Obama changes his plan and promises "change" but never says HOW he will change. He donates X million dollars to cancer researc, x million to health care, x million to social security... which equals higher taxes or broken promises, no matter how you look at it. I think he is smooth and would agree he has a better stage presence, but I also feel he is slick and oily... I don't trust him and would hate to see him in control of all the government operations he wants to incorporate...though I am afraid he will win.
Ah, the joys of politics. 4 more hours left in my neck of the woods...
