As of Thursday, I am dilated to 2 cm and 70% effaced. Translation: Noah is 20% of the way here. Heaven only knows how long it will take him to get the other 80%. I am a ticking bomb that could go off at any moment...even though I technically have 3 1/2 weeks left until I'm due. Everybody pray that Noah comes when my parents are out here for the 4th!
Aaron is doing everything in his power to get the baby here faster. He pokes and prods my belly to try to make it as uncomfortable for Noah (and hence, his mother) as possible. Last night, we took a walk by the BYU duck pond at 10:30 pm. Despite his most persistent efforts, I did not chase the ducks, do jumping jacks, or play in the sprinklers. Though I did want to catch a duck...

5K Adventures
Aaron, Blake, Liesel, and I ran a 5K today for Payson Strawberry Days. Correction - Aaron and I powerwalked it, though it wasn't very powerful. We were not dead last; we passed one guy with dizzy spells and his son, 3 small girls and their mom (they stopped to play in the sprinklers), one tiny Latin lady with short legs, two women who were walking buddies, and one girl from the fire station with weird pants. Yes, the competition was stiff, but we pressed on!
For all those considering it, walking a 5K while 8 months pregnant is very invigorating - particularly if you have a very encouraging husband who lets you hang on his shoulder during contractions and tells you how awesome you are for pushing yourself. However, it isn't the most comfortable thing in the world. Noah behaved himself during the race, but there were a few times I was grateful that the race route was so close to the American Fork Hospital. I am looking forward to the time when I can race carrying Noah in a stroller rather than in my belly.

Once a roommate, always a roommate
My old Riviera roomies got together last week, and we had a blast! Cheryl came into town from Seattle, so we all went out to Zuppas. Jack came too, but as you can see, he's a little camera shy. We had a great time resurrecting old inside jokes and catching up on jobs, spouses, and kids. It's so nice to have friends that you might not see very often, but when you do, you can pick up right where you left off.

Tagged!
So apparently you can play tag on blogs. Never knew that one...this whole blogging thing is still new to me...
So Camille tagged me, so here goes!
The Rules: 1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.2. Peoplethat are tagged write a blog post about their own 8 random things and post these rules.3. At the end of your post tag 8 people and include their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment on their blog to tell them they've been tagged, and to comment back and read your blog for the whole story.
1. I drink water like a camel that has been across the Sahara and back again. Anyone who has ever lived with me or worked with me knows this to be true. Think I'm joking? Let's examine the evidence...
a) My boss recently suggested that I get a waterbottle instead of a water cup so I don't have to refill so often.
b) My old roommate Jess and I used to have a running joke about how the water cups left around the apartment tended to multiply.
c) Whenever I go to eat at my grandparents' house, Grandpa fills the glasses with water for dinner, fills the pitcher again, and places it next to my spot.
d) We own more cups than any other sort of dish or kitchen utensil. I have taken to using washed-out peach jars because they hold more water than our mugs.
2. I'm actually quite proud that I have never puked during pregnancy, bungee jumped, skydived, eaten a chocolate-covered ant, received a speeding ticket, or shot a gun.
3. I have already started my plans for running as soon as Noah makes his grand appearance and the doctor clears me for exercise. I am running the BYU Homecoming 5K in October, the Cardiac Classic in Albany in November, and the Winter Sun 10K in Moab in December. After that (depending on my health and motivation), I might go for my first half marathon. I'm currently accepting applications for running buddies...
4. Soft cheeses, sports, sleeping on my stomach, and being able to roll over in bed without using my elbows are the things I miss most about being unpregnant. Only 5 more weeks until Noah gets here!
5. I could probably eat my own body weight in fresh pineapple. It's the only thing I can readily think of that rivals my love for chocolate.
6. I have a birthmark that looks like a penny taped to my leg or like I splattered mud on it. My aunt, who actually married into our family, has an identical birthmark. That's how I knew she was supposed to marry my uncle.
7. I absolutely love latin dancing. I periodically try to come up with ways to get Aaron to like it as much as I do. Country dancing is fun, but latin is spicy!
8. I love the temple. Being a temple worker is far and away the best calling I've ever had. I cried the day I had to leave. Whenever we go, Aaron has to pry me away from the celestial room because I hate going back to the normal world. I have always thought it would be nice to take a nap in the celestial room because it is so peaceful. Maybe I'll try that when I'm 80 something and can get away with it...
I tag Jenifer and the rest of the data team. I'm curious to see what you all put...

Lil' Bro's got a Blog!
I realize how old I really am when my baby brother has started his own blog, though I'm actually kinda proud of him. Check it out here! Way to embrace your pyro and technological talents, Ben! Just don't blow up Grandma's house on the Fourth of July...

Our First ER Trip
Aaron gets really into intermural sports. Like, really into them. He likes them so much that it's pretty much the only hobby he has to compete with hunting. He's not super competitive, but he gets really excited for games - even for sports he's never really played before.
Yesterday, we went to his soccer game. Team Monkey Spit (thanks to Blake and Liesel for christening all of the 29th ward intermural teams on the way to the zoo last year) had a narrow victory of 1-0. Aaron played well, but managed to have an opposing player step on his ankle as he was kicking the ball. Nobody thought it was that bad at the time; the refs and the other team thought he was faking when he fell and didn't even stop the game (a fact Aaron made sure that all the ER nurses knew in triage later that night).
After the game and some dinner , Aaron's ankle was starting to really hurt. On the walk home from games and dinner with some friends, he had to lean on his pregnant wife for support. At that point, we dragged the Christensens and the Princes back over to our house to give Aaron a blessing. It's so great to have such wonderful friends :-)
The pain was still pretty bad, so we took him to the emergency room. Thankfully, it turned out to be just a moderate sprain. He has to stay off of it for a few days to let it heal, and they gave him a stylish pair of crutches to use. After some ice, a splint, and some ibuprofen, he seems to be doing better. He is still convinced that he'll be playing in the semifinal game on Wednesday (although his wife thinks otherwise).

Flourishes
I carved out 15 minutes this evening to take advantage of my calligraphy desk and practice a little. I've determined that I need some decent paper, as the college-ruled notebook stuff doesn't quite seem to do the trick. I even took a walk on the wild side and tried some gothic hand. I can tell that gothic is going to take a while...I'll post pictures when I make something respectable enough to show in public. Maybe Saturday...

Welcome Baby Zoe!!!
At long last, I am an auntie! Holly had her baby at 4:04 this morning. Zoe is 6 lbs. 12 oz. and 20.5 inches long. She has dark hair like Holly and a Baker chin. Both mom and baby are doing well, but Zoe is currently on antibiotics for an infection. We don't believe it's serious, but we'll keep everyone posted. Welcome to the newest member of our family! (pictures to come...)
