More Pictures and Nicknames

I've had several requests for more pictures. We've taken a few, but most of them all look the same, since Noah sleeps an awful lot. Here are a few of the more interesting ones:

I call this one "Milk Comma." I believe my sister Holly coined this term. I think it's pretty self explanatory.

Last night's great discovery was that Noah doesn't like getting up from sleep any more than the rest of us do. Consequently, it's not unusual for him to fuss, moan, cry, yawn, stretch, etc. for several minutes before deciding whether or not to go back to sleep. He finally chose sleep after this particular battle.

Noah really likes his hands. Like, a lot. He tries to use them for everything from eating to sleeping to soothing himself. Here, they double as a pillow and a teddy bear.

After a few days (and without any conscious thought), I've coined a couple of nicknames for my little bundle of joy. My most consistent ones are Mo, Munchkin Mo, and Squeaker. I think the first two are ones we used for my brother when he was little. I call him Squeaker because when he gets the hiccups, which happens quite often, he sounds like a squeaky toy. It's pretty cute.

Happy Birthday, Noah!

Here he is! All 7 lbs. 7 oz. of him! He was born July 15th at 9:58 am.

Noah and me right after he was born. It was a long night for both of us, so we both have messy hair.

He's got lots of hair like his daddy.

Aaron is one proud papa! I think Noah looks a lot like his daddy.

Morgan Family Porch of Flame

We all know that the Stadium of Fire fireworks are far better than anything you can by from Macey's or a roadside stand (unless you're lucky enough to live in Wyoming or Oklahoma). Regardless of this well-known fact, the Morgan family carries on the firmly-set tradition of a homespun fireworks show on Grandma's back porch every year.

This year's annual Porch of Flame was emceed by my brother, my husband, and my brother-in-law. I think there is something on the Y chromosome that produces pyromaniac tendencies. The grand introduction was a fountain that spewed several small parachute men in addition to the normal showers of sparks. The execution of this went a little awry as the fountain tipped over on the grass and fired small parachute men on the house, the fence, the graham cracker box, and
(almost) my Aunt Kathy. Luckily there were no casualties, and only the graham cracker box was critically injured. Aunt Kathy was miraculously unscathed.

Dad and I have moved our lawn chairs back after a few close calls with some spinning China blossoms. Porch of Flame was very interactive this year. I'm not sure why Dad is making a kissing face.

Aaron is guarding the artillery with Ben (barely visible in the background).

Taking Bets

I really thought Noah would be here by now, but as he isn't here yet, I am taking bets as to when he will make his grand appearance. I think most of the data team has already guessed (and yes, Angie, you are still on my hit list for guessing Thursday). There will be a prize for the winner, though I'm not sure what that will be yet. So leave a comment and predict Noah's birthday!

Progress!

Yay! I'm dilated 3 cm and 90% effaced, just as Aaron guessed. I have a hunch that Noah's birthday is fast approaching. We'll see if I'm right. In the mean time, I'll be taking lots of walks...

No Progress

I went to the doctor yesterday, and despite all the contractions, I have made zero progress since last week. However, Noah has finally dropped (the OB could feel his head), so we'll see if that pressure amounts to anything in the near future. It's presently 3 am and the contractions are enough to keep me awake, but not to send me to the hospital. I hope Noah makes up his mind soon so I can either brave the inevitable or go back to sleep...

Flourishes

I'm reassured that my more recent calligraphy is better than my old calligraphy. I made this card for a friend's birthday. I can't remember what this hand is called...Gothic something or other. And yes, the 'f' is supposed to look like that. I should have made up another version though, because I think it looks a little awkward...
