At long last!

After several months of longing, I finally have my calligraphy desk from Ikea! It has a built-in lightbox and it tilts for ergonomic value. I am hoping that having a spot to do all of my crafty stuff will give me incentive to do it more often. Thanks to my darling Aaron and his buddy Sterling for setting it up (with Swedish instructions).

...and the dish ran away with the spoon!

The Data Team went to Color Me Mine for our quarterly activity. I painted this spoon rest. And yes, I did the drips on purpose. Thanks to Jenifer for taking us.

Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle...

My mom made this absolutely adorable quilt for Noah! It's so soft and comfy. I actually caught Aaron napping with it the other day. Grandma Baker used to make quilts for special events like weddings, graduations, babies, etc. It's so wonderful to see Mom carrying on that heritage. You can't really see it in the picture, but the blue pattern has illustrations from the rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle."

Little Boy Blue

So I ventured into Kid to Kid with my friend Erica on Saturday. The place has a limited selection of gear and maternity clothes, but it's a treasure trove of cute outfits for little wee babes. Here are some of my favorites:

I love the little penguin! It's blue, so it's masculine. Just because I'm having a boy doesn't mean he can't look absolutely adorable...

The little footies are my favorite part!

Peek-a-blue!

This one is actually for Zoe. Noah won't be here to celebrate the traditional Morgan family Fourth of July, but Zoe will definitely need an outfit for the occasion. I never thought I'd be one of those aunts that buys presents for nieces and nephews, but I guess I'm starting to turn into one.

A toast to the one I love most...

As Aaron claims that he "doesn't blog", I've decided that I should help represent him in the blogging community by paying tribute to him on my blog. So ladies and gentlemen, please tip your hats for Aaron Richard Sisson!

A little about Aaron: He was born on February 10th, he's the 10th of 11 kids, and he was born on his due date, which makes him a perfect 10! He's the shortest of all his brothers, but he's definitely the best looking. He was named after Richard Sisson, who was the first Sisson to come to America way back in the 1700s. Those blonde dots on the back of his head are not a dye job mishap; they are a birthmark. That, or he's had repetative dye job mishaps consistently for the last 2+ years I've known him.

Hobbies: deer hunting, turkey hunting, duck hunting, pheasant hunting, rabbit hunting, chukar hunting, watching hunting videos, target practice, and intermural sports. (One of these things is not like the other...)

Favorite food: He'll probably tell you that it's milanesas, or pollo a la mostasa, or something Argentine; but I know the truth. The one food Aaron can't resist is pickles. He eats at least one pickle a day. It is not uncommon for him to drink pickle juice as his midnight snack. When President Gordon B. Hinckley told us not to be pickle suckers, I sure hope he wasn't referring to Aaron...that might be a lost cause. For dessert, he likes anything with peanut butter and chocolate.

Hidden talents: Aaron has a lovely singing voice, and he taught himself to read music on his mission. He can also split an apple with his bare hands, which is part of the reason I fell in love with him. He's a terrific dancer and a wonderful cook. He's gives great back massages, and I really think this is a talent that he should continue to cultivate.

Favorite books: La Dama del Alba is far and away his favorite, but I've recently been able to hook him on Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia.

What he gets excited about: buying new hunting toys, his major, making connections to start his own guide business, and being a daddy.

ABCs

A--ADVOCATE FOR: The environment. No, I'm not an extremist treehugger; but despite my WASPish, suburban roots, I do believe we could each recycle a can, reuse a bag, turn off the water when we brush our teeth, and plant a tree. It would go a long way.

B--BEST FEATURE: I'm gonna go with hair. Though it can't decide whether it's curly or straight, it's just the right thickness and I like the fact that it gets redder as I get older.

C--COULD DO WITHOUT: Acne. The official bane of my existence.

D--DREAMS AND DESIRES: To be a good mother, to publish something, to get good enough at calligraphy to start a home business, and to go to Italy

E--ESSENTIAL ITEMS:A pen. You should never be without a pen. I used to keep one behind my ear at all times.

F--FAVORITE PAST TIME: Anything active - dancing, running, hiking, biking. I also enjoy reading and a good game of web boggle.

G--GOOD AT: word nerdy things like boggle and editing resumes.

H--HAVE NEVER TRIED: Bungee jumping or skydiving, and that's not likely to change.

I--IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS: I would buy you a green dress, but not a real green dress - that's cruel.

J--JUNKIE FOR: Chocolate in all forms. And breakfast cereal.

K--KINDRED SPIRIT:
Female - Jessica (Fink) Hernandez. I don't think I've ever found another human being that understands me better than Jess.
Male - Aaron, of course. And my dad.

L--LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Hmm...I am married to a mighty hunter, but I've never shot a gun.

M--MEMORABLE MOMENT: When Aaron took me on a carriage ride in Central Park. My wedding day. The evening that Aaron proposed.

N--NEVER AGAIN WILL I: Watch a trashy movie because someone else wants me to, even if that person is family, a landlord, my boss, or the Queen of Sheba.

O--OCCASIONAL INDULGENCE: The craft store. I have a bazillion unfinished projects...

Q--QUOTE: "Go to sleep. Everything will look better in the morning." ~Mom

R--REASON TO SMILE: I'm officially in my third trimester and all is well, I only have to work part time after August, and Aaron got the most stellar GPA he's ever had this semester.

S--SORRY ABOUT: My overly analytical tendencies. I really have tried to keep them in check, but it's kind of like herding cats.

T--TAG SOME FRIENDS: Natalie, tag - you're it! Now you should go up to random Italians and tell them that they're it and we can make this a global game of tag.

U--UNINTERESTED IN: Golf. I still have zero clue as to why so many millions of people think that this game is amusing.

V--VERY SCARED OF: Losing people I love.

W--WORST HABIT: Procrastination.

X--X MARKS MY IDEAL VACATION SPOT: Europe - specifically Italy, France, England, Austria, Russia, and Spain. I also think Thailand would be a beautiful place to visit.

Y--YESTERYEAR DECADE OF CHOICE: I think I could handle the 20's. I like the 40's fashion, but WWII wouldn't be much fun to go back in time to.

Z--ZODIAC SIGN: Aquarius
